Meet Jamie Schreiber & Maiana Radack, Producing Partners & Founders of B&B Entertainment

The Duo met while working at Critical Content, where they became instant friends and colleagues, connecting over their mutual affinity for Creative Development.

That’s actually not true… yes they both worked for the same umbrella company, but they worked on opposite ends of a huge studio lot, toiling away under separate producer overall deals - only crossing paths at company-wide meetings. After months of working at the giant entertainment company, they began to take notice of each other during certain “breaks” in the day, passing each other like two ships in the night, down a particular corridor. A stretch of the lot by the sound stages, where no one else at Critical would ever be traversing. Neither can remember who spoke first, but one day, on one such passing, they finally made the connection…

“Music bathroom?”

“Music bathroom!”

You see, there was a certain bathroom on the lot, away from all the production companies, that had a radio speaker system that blasted a constant stream of hit music; not only was it always empty… but it also had fabulous lighting. A dream bathroom yes, and the perfect host for a much needed  bathroom/dance break as reprieve from their regular 9-7’s. The two formed a real friendship over their shared love of the space, and it became their spot. Like a “smoke break,” it became a routine, calling one another’s extension to meet at the coveted “music bathroom.”

Over the years at Critical, many more antics were to follow, including but not limited to: swapping the storage closet sign for a “7 min in Heaven'' sign, transforming the space into a secret password entry lounge (any middle school party goer would admire), elaborately pranking the executives by mislabelling the door to an empty office with the name of a professional baseball player (Justin Turner). In fact, thanks to Maiana’s Justin Turner (bearded) Chia Pet who resided in said empty office, they weren’t bluffing.  Most significantly, instating a company-wide 5 PM dance party, at the empty end of the offices, where all were welcome to join, for the duration of one song (a phenomenon that became so popular, those who couldn’t make it would Video conference in). All for the sake of “work hard, play harder,” these two became notorious for bringing the playful and infectious energy to a business that desperately calls for it.

Destined to be friends, and as exhibited above, this duo already had a penchant for spirited collaboration. Years after both women had moved on to different companies, as well as spending time producing in the field on different shows, they came back together professionally to work on the first of what was to become an extensive and colorful development slate. Garnering instant success on their very first project, the two realized there was something magical about their creative process, a je nais se quois. Honing their collaborative efforts has allowed them to be in business with several substantial production companies and studios around town, including STX, All3media, Intuitive Content, Done & Done Productions, VENN, and more. They continue to passionately hunt for fresh concepts as a team, constantly taking inspiration from the world around them, developing and calibrating unique concepts accordingly.  They have been hailed for their work in the traditional Unscripted/Scripted/Hybrid spaces, as well as alternative forms of media. Thanks to their extensive network, a strong creative bond, and alignment in (pop)cultural interests, these two are on the rise in the next generation of multifaceted, progressive, fearless female producers in the entertainment industry.

Why Birkin & Bardot?

Besides their uncanny resemblance, and obvious amore de la danse… le duh? Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot were not only icons, but iconoclasts. Two beautiful, highly intelligent and creative women, who were known for being ahead of their time; both passionate about social issues, animal rights, and the environment. They were fearless, trendsetting pioneers, as well as multi-hyphenate talents. Much like the inspiration behind the title of their company, Maiana and Jamie share many passions in common, including a love for animals, equality and social justice, environmental issues, as well as a love of anthropology, art, history, music, comedy… 70’s era aesthetics, and overall good vibes.

“I always went against the grain.”

— Jane Birkin

“My wild and free side unsettled some, and unwedged others.”

— Brigitte Bardot
